Stretch marks. Those raised pink, purple or discoloured ‘stripes’ that appear particularly after pregnancy. They’re quite normal, but they can cause a fair amount of bother, especially if you see them for the first time. Most people would like their smooth, unlined skin back, or at least to diminish the most prominent marks. There are any number of cosmetic aids you could turn to; the more difficult part is finding one that works. Today we review It Works Stretch Mark Moisturizing Body Cream, the obvious question being, ‘Well, does it? Work, that is’. It Works says its cream is made of nourishing and moisturizing botanicals put together in a non-greasy formula that enhances elasticity, leaving your skin soft and youthful looking.

Stretch marks are caused during rapid growth phases, such as puberty and pregnancy. They can also be caused by hormonal changes and medication. When the skin expands and shrinks it loses collagen, which gives skin its firmness. Women naturally lose more collagen with men as they age so are more prone to stretch marks.

This long list of ingredients can be summed up as being, as the manufacturer states, comprised of leaf and plant or herbal oils that soother, smooth and rejuvenate, and carried on other oils and mineral compounds to below the epidermis where it is required. Jojoba oil, like aloe, is deeply nourishing (aloe being an anti inflammatory that can therefore fight red marks as well). It is like sebum in that it moisturizes skin, and is often used to treat acne because of its anti-scarring properties. The main property of marigold oil is as an anti inflammatory as well, as does horsetail, which also rejuvenates the skin and acts as an antimicrobial. Citronellol is rose oil and provides a natural scent as does lavender (linalool).

Our Conclusive Review About It Works Stretch Mark

Stretch Mark is non-greasy and easily absorbed into the skin despite the dense formulation. It is deeply hydrating and nourishing, but it does appear that how well it works depends on the existing levels of collagen of your skin, which is determined by age and genetics, among others. It determines how quickly your skin will bounced back when supported to do so. Our research indicates that the cream should work well on fresh scarring and stripes, but the ability to heal old stretch marks is not so clear. In the absence of an ingredients such as silicone which is known to work medically better than others, Stretch Mark is high risk given the price tag and the fact that you cannot open the cream to try it prior to returning it.
